Sharing Dashboards

Like Reports and workbooks, Dashboards are made to be collaborative and can be shared with other users.

Sharing a Dashboard is similar to sharing workbooks and Reports. Dashboards can be shared by inviting individual users, or by sharing a link.

How to Share a Dashboard

  1. From your Dashboard, click the pink Share button in the upper right corner of your browser
  2. Select Invite by email or Get link, and define the permission level with which new users will join your Dashboard

Sharing Dashboards with Other Users

Invite by email

Share your Dashboard with specific Spreadsheet.com users, and define the permission level with which each one joins. Permission levels for Dashboards are the same as those for workbooks, and have the same implications for the number of licensed users in your workspace.

Get link

Share your Dashboard with multiple other users at a time by distributing a share link. Share links can be configured as…

  • Restricted by user: The Dashboard can only be joined by users who have been invited to the workbook via email or who have access through a shared folder. Manage this list of users in the Invite by email section of the Share dialog.
  • Restricted by domain: The Dashboard can be joined by users with Spreadsheet.com accounts that belong to a specific email domain (i.e., @newblend.com, @spreadsheet.com). Specify the permission level that users joining via the link will adopt.
  • Anyone with the link: The Dashboard can be joined by anybody with the share link. Specify the permission level that users joining via the link will adopt.

Dashboard Sharing Permissions

When you share a Dashboard with other users, you can choose the permission level with which they will join. Permission levels for Dashboards are similar to those for workbooks:

Level Permissions
Owner Full control to manage and share the Dashboard, including ability to move and delete; can add, delete, and configure widgets.
Manager Full control to manage and share the Dashboard, but cannot move or delete; can add, delete, and configure widgets.
Collaborator Full control to manage and share the Dashboard, but cannot move or delete.
Editor Read only access
Commenter Read only access
Viewer Read only access

Owners, Managers, and Collaborators are licensed users

Permissions for View Widgets

When you share a Dashboard with a View widget, users that join your Dashboard may have different permission levels for the Dashboard and the View’s source worksheet.

For Dashboards with these embedded Views,

  • If the invited Dashboard user has access to the source worksheet of the embedded View, they will be able to interact with the embedded View according to their permission level for the source worksheet.
  • If the invited Dashboard user does not have access to the source worksheet of the embedded View, they will be able to see the embedded View as read-only and will not have access to data from the source workbook that is not included in the embedded View.

Always confirm sharing settings and permission levels before sharing your Spreadsheet.com documents, especially when working with sensitive or confidential data. Learn more about sharing and collaboration options.
