Importing a CSV file

With, it's easy to import CSV files and then add in unique features, like views, data types, and related rows.

Importing workbooks retains data, styling, formatting, formulas, and more. Currently, you can import Excel or CSV files, and exports from other spreadsheet software, like Google Sheets.

Use imported spreadsheets to get up and running quickly, pulling in existing formatting or reusing complex formulas. is a standards-compliant spreadsheet platform that includes powerful collaborative features, allowing you to take your spreadsheets further than before.

How does convert data?

When importing, retains data, styling, formatting, formulas, cross-sheet formulas, images, named ranges, and more. In, Excel or Google Sheets are converted to Worksheets, to which you can add views

One unique aspect of is that it converts cells and columns with custom "Number Formats" (Excel) or "Formats" (Google Sheets) to Data Types. Data types allow you fine control over formatting and allow for unique formulas and data types (like Duration).

How to Import a CSV File

You can import an existing spreadsheet via your homepage.


Here, create new workbooks from the top navigation bar (1) or from directly within a workspace (2) or folder (3).

Each button will open the New Workbook dialog where you can can create a new workbook three different ways: create a new workbook from a template, create a new blank workbook, or import an existing workbook from elsewhere. Select "Import CSV file" from the bottom of the dialog.


Clicking here will open the Import workbook dialog from where you can select the file to import, name your imported workbook, and specify the workbook owner and location.


Once you've configured these options, click the blue Import button in the bottom right corner to complete the upload process.

Which spreadsheets can be imported into allows a variety of file formats to be imported, including:

  • Excel files with the extensions .XLS and .XLSX
  • Excel templates with the extensions .XLT and .XLTX
  • Other spreadsheets with the extensions .CSV and .TSV currently supports importing spreadsheet files that are up to 5MB in size and have up to 50,000 rows in total (10,000 rows max per worksheet). You may be subject to additional size limitations based on your plan.
